With this spell, the caster causes the target's lungs to fill with water. The water hampers breathing, and the victim will begin to suffocate after _ his Constitution score in rounds (round up). Thereafter, a successful Constitution check each round with a cumulative -2 penalty will postpone damage for an additional round. After the first failed check, the victim suffers 1d6 damage each round until dead. For example, Talmac has a Constitution of 17; he will begin to suffocate after 6 rounds. On the 7th round, his player rolls a 3 - no problem, Talmac suffers no damage this round. But on the 8th round, the player rolls a 14 (he failed by one, since 17-4=13), and Talmac takes 1d6 damage that round and each subsequent round for the remaining duration of the spell.
A successful dispel magic cast on the victim immediately clears his lungs of water. A water breathing spell cast on the victim will allow him to ignore the presence of the fluid in his lungs for its duration. The material component of this spell is a fist-sized piece of pulp from a saguaro cactus.
